The website collects the results of work done within the project financed by the European Commission. In January 2000 the transnational seminar about
"Information and consulting
rights regarding processes of concentration and merging in the banking
sector: the role of social dialogue" was held at the CISL Study
Institute in Florence.
The seminar studied the repercussions of new
organizational and company arrangement on the working condition of professional
and managerial staff. The goal of the transnational comparison was to
point out the best practices of trade unions politics of European negotiation,
participation and social dialogue.
The seminar was attended by P&Ms
from six European countries: Italy, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France
and United Kingdom. After six years, concentration processes haven't
arrested, but they had further development, crossing the national borders
of domestic mergers, coming to international aggregations and involving
not only banks, but also the insurance sector.
Even though concentration processes have fostered opportunities for big European players to be competitive in the global market, they have also , and the problems have had the most diversified solutions, some shared other just received from employees' organizations. The goal of the present project is to highlight what has went on in this span of time and on the outcomes of the mentioned processes and, in parallel, analyse the best examples of shared solutions between social parts and prospect a way of development for the future.
